It seemed like only yesterday that we happily farewelled a tough year and welcomed 2021.
In the blink of an eye, we find ourselves at the beginning of February. The world is still in the chokehold of a pandemic and even though the grim reaper that is COVID has had a devastating impact, we hold onto hope that brilliant scientists and researchers have found the answer in the form of vaccines that will soon be our deliverance.
It is all too easy to feel discouraged, to doubt that we can make our way through this pea soup fog. But history tells us that the world has encountered epidemics and pandemics as far back as 3000 BC and that mankind has made its way through it, admittedly with enormous casualties but also with a lifetime of lessons.
During my lifetime alone, the world has lived through the AIDS pandemic and epidemic that started in 1981, the swine flu pandemic that lasted from 2009-2010, the West African Ebola epidemic 2014-2016, the Zika virus epidemic from 2015 to present day and lastly the current COVID-19 pandemic.
But hope is within reach – vaccines are being rolled out as I pen this post and we eagerly anticipate a post COVID-19 world where the world can return to health, unrestricted or less restricted movements, enjoyment of travel and hopefully regain life as it was before this global pandemic happened. Hope has a knack of keeping our minds and hearts in the game, so let’s hold onto it as we navigate the landscape of life.
Tomfoolery recently posted the following YouTube video on Hope which is worth viewing.
