I have been ruminating about how a virus that made a sudden appearance only months ago has staggered our governments and demanded we all turn our attention to how we live our daily lives forcing us to assess the things we placed importance on before.
Perhaps we sweated the small stuff a bit much and became somewhat self-centered. We may have had shallow preoccupations and become materialistic. Whatever the malaise, we now have the opportunity to give ourselves the gift of taking stock, recognizing the deficiencies of our previous ways and shifting focus to that which is truly important – spending precious and finite time with those close and important to us, appreciating nature, keeping healthy, maintaining perspective, being grateful, appreciating our pets, participating in our communities, being honest and hardworking, staying positive, being kind and living life in the moment and with good intention.
Ironically even though this virus has collectively taken so much from us, I hope we look back at this point in time with a sense of gratitude for how it awakened us perhaps from a stupor of selfish indulgence to give us the gift of clarity and the paradigm shift we may have so needed.
My childhood friend shared the following clip titled ‘The Great Realisation’ with me and it fills me with a renewed sense of hope for how humanity could live when this is all said and done .
