Plastic Free July and beyond …

Plastic Free July 2020 just wrapped up and it has been reported that 326 million people worldwide took part to move away from single use plastics and in doing so to reduce plastic waste and make the planet cleaner and more beautiful.

Did you take on a Plastic Free July challenge and if so what did you do?

I am happy to report I made some small changes which I will be sticking with and will be building upon into the future. My 2020 Plastic Free July changes included the following:

1) Reusable Bamboo straws replacing plastic straws – available from Ikea at a cost of $6.99

2) Reusable beeswax food wraps that are biodegradable replacing cling wrap – I purchased mine from Ozzie Natural on Amazon – cost of $17.95 for an assorted pack of 6.

3) Reusable mesh produce bags from Purify You on Amazon replacing single use plastic produce bags – a set of 9 double stitched are strong and have the tare weight on the tags. These cost $20.97.

Previous changes include:

1) Reusable collapsible coffee mug.

2) Reusable washable shopping bags

3) Reusable drink bottle

4) Trolley bags

5) Wooden hangers

6) Wooden clothes pegs

7) Wooden/ bamboo toothbrush

8) Glass food storage containers

During July 2020, I also learned about bamboo earbuds, bamboo washable reusable makeup remover pads and silicone food storage bags and will likely make these changes very soon.
