I love Michelle Obama’s metaphor of ‘kitchen table people’ that represents an inner circle of trusted people that help you through life’s twists and turns, support you through the lows and celebrate the highs with you.

For the select few who are my ‘kitchen table people’, for those who ground me, for those who always show up for me and are never beyond reach, despite times’ fleeting nature, I will always return to you the gift of time.

For those who have taken the time to get to know me, to really put in the effort to know me, I will make time for you. Although time flies and I know I don’t have all the time in the world, I will reserve precious moments for you despite times’ attempts to always slip away.

For the genuine and generous few who give up your precious time to communicate in depth with me, whole heartedly support me, laugh with me, cry with me, have fun times with me, debate with me, tell me interesting stories, share your wisdom and interesting perspectives and insights with me, I will always respectfully repay you with the valuable commodity of time.

Many did not make my ‘kitchen table people’ cut but they did teach me awesome lessons about myself & life in general for which I am grateful.
