Adios 2024, Bienvenida 2025

,

As 2024 comes to a close and we collectively prepare to enter 2025, I find myself customarily reflecting on the last 12 months, the triumphs, the trials and everything in between.

My thoughts have turned to setting goals and intentions for the new year.

But before I get intentional about the things I want to accomplish next year, it seems appropriate to give thanks for all that 2024 has offered me personally.

I am thankful for good health, for cool adventures and for the opportunity to grow, and to be in the service of others who need it and of God. I am grateful for the decline of Covid in the world. Opportunities for travel have increased, and lockdowns are a thing of the past – now that’s definitely worth celebrating!

Global occurrences included devastating wars, surprising election outcomes and the entertaining and uplifting Olympic Games to name a few. Parts of the world are experiencing the ravages of war and others are enjoying peace. Wouldn’t it be satisfying to see peace entrenched in every corner of the world for every human being to enjoy.

To quote John Lennon’s lyrics from ‘Imagine’:

“Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too

Imagine all the people
Livin’ life in peace”

I am also grateful for the lessons that negative situations have taught me. It is easy to fall into patterns of self pity & resentment but what would that achieve? It is ultimately all about one’s perspective and I am therefore adamant on extracting the good from the bad.

I also revisited my post on intentions for 2024 to see how much I could tick off my list. I was pleasantly surprised that I accomplished many on my list. But there is much that I did not even get started on and which I will happily carry over to my 2025 intentions list.

Two big foundational goals of mine for 2025 is declutterring, and mastering, or at least trying to master organization.

I want to trim excess from all aspects of my life, & I am intent on putting robust organizational systems in place, that will optimize my use of time and that I hope, will in turn, support, a raft of other goals, I have also set myself for the coming year.

Importantly, I want to enjoy the simple things in life – a beautiful sunrise or sunset, a cup of coffee or tea, a joke, a walk in nature, a cuddle with my fur baby, a simple home cooked meal, a song, a movie, the sun shining on my face …you get the idea!

Thought leader Paulo Coelho, in his book The Alchemist, said, “The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them.” And oh boy, I am going to try and cultivate more of that wisdom this year.

So thank you 2024 for the life lessons & the opportunities and hello and welcome 2025 – I am so ready for all that you have in store for me and this little life of mine.
