September, October, November and December for me are a cluster of 4 months for remembering some special humans who have transitioned from this earthly plane to the forever after.
During these months, I remember their birthdays, their wedding anniversaries and anniversaries of their passing. I savour all my memories of them – the good and the not so good and how they have helped shape me.
So naturally, when I heard the song ‘Dancing in the sky’, I inhaled deeply, shed a tear, and remembered those who are no longer with us.
It reminded me of my own mortality and reinforced for me, why life needs to be lived with intention and to the fullest each and every day.
The lyrics are a sweet remembrance and with its melody it is akin to a prayer being sung. The harmony and lyrics are slightly melancholic yet surprisingly healing and uplifting.
The chorus verse –
Oh-oh, I
I hope you’re dancing in the sky
And I hope you’re singing in the angel’s choir
And I hope the angels know what they have
I’ll bet it’s so nice up in Heaven since you arrived
Since you arrived
makes my heart smile ❤️😊💙
Dancing in the Sky
Tell me, what does it look like in heaven?
Is it peaceful? Is it free like they say?
Does the sun shine bright forever?
Have your fears and your pain gone away?
‘Cause here on Earth it feels like everything
Good is missing since you left
And here on Earth, everything’s different
There’s an emptiness
Oh-oh, I
I hope you’re dancing in the sky
And I hope you’re singing in the angel’s choir
And I hope the angels know what they have
I’ll bet it’s so nice up in Heaven since you arrived
So tell me, what do you do up in Heaven?
Are your days filled with love and light?
Is there music? Is there art and adventure?
Tell me are you happy? Are you more alive?
‘Cause here on Earth it feels like everything
Good is missing since you left
And here on Earth everything’s different
There’s an emptiness
Oh-oh, I
I hope you’re dancing in the sky
And I hope you’re singing in the angel’s choir
And I hope the angels know what they have
I’ll bet it’s so nice up in Heaven since you arrived
Since you arrived
Oh, oh
(What does it look like in heaven?) Yeah, yeah
Oh, oh, oh-oh
Oh-oh, oh
Oh, oh, I
I hope you’re dancing in the sky
And I hope you’re singing in the angel’s choir
And I hope the angels know what they have
I’ll bet it’s so nice up in Heaven since you arrived
Since you arrived
The original
The version I love ❤️
